Ascentra Visa® Credit Cards are Coming!


  • Your new credit card will be mailed by 5/7.
  • Upon receiving it, you may activate it immediately by calling the phone number on the activation label attached to the card, or through Digital Banking by selecting:
  • Mobile app - Select "Menu" at the bottom of your screen, then "Cards" on the left-side menu and "Manage Cards". By choosing this option, you will also need to call 1-888-886-0083 to set your PIN.
  • Desktop - Select "Cards" on the left-side menu and "Manage Cards". 
    • Once your new card is activated, please destroy your old credit card.
    • It is important to note that your credit card number, expiration date and CVV will change. If you use your credit card for automatic payments or you make your credit card payment from another financial, you will want to update this information.
    • Although your new cards will work for mobile wallet applications, due to Visa’s processing procedures, they may not be available for up to 30 days after the activation date. Once available, we will communicate via text, email and a website alert that the new cards can be added to your wallet.

    Upcoming Dates Related to Your Credit Card Payments.

    • From 4/25 – 4/27, no payments will be able to be accepted or processed at the branch or in Digital Banking.

    Starting on 4/28 you will want to update your payment information when making your credit card payment. Depending on how you have made payments in the past, below are examples of how to update this information:

     

    • Paying within Digital Banking? If you had this set up as a recurring payment in Digital Banking, you will need to reestablish your recurring payment.
    • Paying from a Non-Ascentra Account? You will need to change the number associated with this loan which will be the last four digits shown on your Visa® Credit card account tile in Ascentra’s Digital Banking.
    • Paying by Mail? You may continue to mail your payments to the credit union or the address on your payment coupon. You WILL receive a new paper statement in May containing the new payment address.
    • Automatic Payments Set up by Ascentra. You will not need to do anything.

     

    Upcoming Dates Affecting Your Credit Card Statements:

    • All cardholders will receive printed statements starting in May. Your new statement will include the new payment address. 
    • Your Statement History will only be available until 4/24. If you need a copy of a previous statement, Ascentra will be able to provide you one. 
    • Members previously receiving eStatements will need to re-enroll.

    How to Re-enroll in eStatements

    To re-enroll in eStatements once your card is activated:

     

    • In Digital Banking, go to “Cards” on the Menu bar and click “Manage Cards”.
    • Click the “Card Details” button.
    • Click the “Statements & History” button.
    • Accept “Terms and Conditions” & “Enroll” your card by following the prompts.
    • Click the “Statements” icon on the Menu bar.
    • Click “eStatement Enrollment” and follow the prompts to enroll in eStatements.

    This is where you will find your credit card account summary, manage your eStatements and make a balance transfer. 

    Important Dates & Digital Banking Changes

     

    • On 4/25, the “Credit Card Services” option under “Cards” on the Menu bar in Digital Banking will no longer be available, and your current Visa® Credit card account tile will be removed. Once your card is activated, you can access this information under “Statements & History” as explained above. 

     

    • On 4/28, your NEW Visa® Credit card account tile will appear in Digital Banking, and a “Statements & History” button will be placed on the “Card Details” page under “Manage Cards”. This button provides access to your new statements, allow you to sign up for eStatements, request a balance transfer and much more. Note: you must activate your new card in order to access this page.  

     



    New Ascentra Visa® Card Changes


    Debit Cards

        Options to Activate Your Visa® Debit or Debit Savings Only Card:

        Skip any potential wait time by activating your card through Digital Banking:

         

        • On desktop, access the left-side menu, select "Cards", then click on "Manage Cards". On mobile, access the left-side menu by clicking on "Menu" at the bottom of your screen, then selecting "Cards", then "Manage Cards".
        • Then select your card image and click on "Activate" and follow prompts.
        • By choosing this option, you will also need to call 1-888-886-0083 to set your PIN.

        Call the activation number on the label attached to your new card. 

         

        • If activating through the automated phone system, you can activate your card and set a PIN.
        • If you reach a representative, you can activate your card but will need to call a separate phone number to set your PIN, this is for security purposes.
        • The number to set your PIN is 1-888-886-0083.

        It is important to note that your card number, expiration date and CVV has changed. If you use your debit card for automatic payments, you will want to update this information.

         

        Although your new debit card will work for mobile wallet applications, due to Visa's processing procedures, they may not be available for up to 30 days after the activation date. Once available, we will communicate via text, email and a website alert that the new cards can be added to your wallet.

          • As Ascentra changes over to new Visa® cards, we will no longer have separate, physical ATM cards.  As a result, your new Debit Savings Only card will look like our Visa® Debit card; however, it will only have the functionality of your current ATM card.
          • Remember that this debit card will be limited to ATM use only! If you would like to start accessing the benefits of the debit card all you need to do is qualify to open a checking account.

          CURewards



          An Exciting New Program!

          CURewards Site Coming Soon!

          As soon as you activate your NEW Ascentra Visa® Debit card, you will begin earning points on your purchases.

           

          We are making the finishing touches to the CURewards site and plan to launch in April. Once launched, register your debit card on the site. Then all the points you've earned since activation, in March, will be automatically added to your points balance. CURewards will start earning points on credit card purchases in May, upon activation of your NEW Ascentra Visa® Credit card.

           

          CURewards offers points for your debit AND credit card purchases and through annual promotions that offer double rewards on back2school, Black Friday and Cyber Monday purchases.  Points are earned daily for all purchases in-store, online and through mobile payment services. These points can be redeemed for cash back, quality merchandise, exciting travel and for donation to the Ascentra Credit Union Foundation.

          • Personal: $3 spent = 1 point
          • Business: $15 spent = 1 point

          Ascentra Visa® Credit Card Points
          (Starts earning in May, once you have activated your NEW credit card.)

          • Personal: $1 spent = 1.5 points
          • Business: $5 spent = 1 point

          Maximum points a cardholder can earn in a year is 200,000. Points can be redeemed at any time.

          Credit card functionality may not be available for up to 30 days after your new card’s activation. All credit cards will be in the mail by 5/7.

           


           

          CardValet

          With the changeover to Ascentra’s NEW Visa® Debit and Credit cards, your card management controls will move from the CardValet app to Ascentra’s Digital Banking. This change will help make managing your cards easier and in one place. Here is what you need to know for a smooth transition:

           

          DEBIT CARD:

          • Once you activate your new debit card, your card controls will be available in Digital Banking, you can find this by going to Digital Banking, select "Cards" on the left-side menu and "Manage Cards". 
          • Then, if you do not use the CardValet app for your Ascentra Visa® Credit card, you may delete the app from your device(s).

           

          CREDIT CARD:

          • Your credit card controls will stop working in the CardValet app on 4/24 at 11:59 p.m. CST.
          • Your new credit card will be in the mail no later than 5/7.
          • Upon receiving your card, you may activate it immediately by calling the phone number on the activation label attached to the card, or through "Manage Cards" in Digital Banking.  You can do this by selecting "Cards" on the left-side menu, then "Manage Cards".
          • On 4/25 your existing card controls will have been turned off in CardValet, so once you activate your new credit card, you will want to select your card control preferences in Digital Banking.

          Debit Cards

          • Will my debit card number change?

            A: Yes, since Ascentra is issuing new Visa® Debit cards, your card number has changed. Your expiration date and CVV have also changed.

            Please note: If you use your debit card for automatic payments, you will need to update your information for automatic payments to continue.

          • Will I have a new PIN?

            A: Yes, during activation you will be prompted to set-up your PIN. You may choose the same PIN you currently have.

          • Will the customer service number change for my debit card?

            A: Yes, the new card support, and lost or stolen card phone number will change. The new number for Ascentra Visa® Debit cards is 1-855-563-0405.  This is printed on the back of your debit card for convenience.  You can also reach us through online chat by clicking the “Let’s Talk” button below.

          • Will my new debit card work with mobile wallet?

            A: Yes, but due to Visa’s processing procedures it may take up to 30 days after activation for it to be available. Ascentra will make sure to communicate as soon as your new debit card is available in mobile wallets.

          • If I make a return from an item I purchased on my old card, what will happen?
            A: If you return an item you purchased with your old, now closed, debit card, your refund WILL credit to your new Ascentra Visa® Debit Card.

          ATM Cards

          • Will new ATM cards be distributed?

            A: Yes, savings account only members will receive an Ascentra Visa® Debit Card for ATM use only! You will need to open a checking account to access all the benefits of a debit card. 

          • What does ‘Debit Card, for ATM use only,” mean?

            As Ascentra changes over to new Visa® cards, we will no longer have separate, physical ATM cards.  As a result, your new ATM card will look like our Visa® Debit card; however, it will only have the functionality of your current ATM card.

            Remember that this debit card will be limited to ATM use only! If you would like to start accessing the benefits of the debit card all you need to do is qualify to open a checking account.

          • Will the ATM withdrawal limit change?

            A: No, your new Visa® Debit Card for ATM use only, will continue to have a withdrawal limit of $300 per day.

          Security

          • Concerned about the security of these new cards?
            A: Ascentra's NEW Visa® Debit and Credit cards have the same strong security as our current cards. This includes secure chip technology.
          • How secure is Tap to Pay?

            A: New Ascentra Visa® Debit and Credit Tap to Pay cards include secure chip technology that adds an extra layer of security to member transactions.

            Each time you use a chip-enabled credit or debit card, at a chip-activated terminal, a unique one-time code is generated to authorize the transaction to enhance protection for your information. In addition, all payment information is encrypted, which ensures that your information remains unreadable to anyone unauthorized from accessing it.

          • Will I get charged double for using the Tap to Pay feature?
            A: No, Tap to Pay creates a one-time code for each purchase. This keeps payment information safe and helps prevent fraud. 

          Credit Cards

          CardValet

          • Can I use CardValet to control my new debit and credit cards?

            A: For your Ascentra Visa® Debit card, your new card controls will be within Digital Banking under "Manage Cards".

            For your Ascentra Visa® Credit card, your card controls will stop working in the CardValet app on 4/24 at 11:59 p.m. CST. Your new credit card will be in the mail no later than 5/6 and can be activated upon receiving. Once you've activated your card, your card controls will then be available under "Manage Cards".

          • Do I need to do anything to remove my old cards from CardValet?

            A: No, everything will happen automatically. Your current debit card will grey out and show as “closed” in the CardValet app on 3/5. Once you activate your new debit card, it will appear in Ascentra’s Digital Banking, under "Manage Cards".

            Your current credit card will continue to remain “active” in CardValet until your new credit card is activated. You will not have to do anything with the old card in CardValet as Ascentra will remove/close the old card in the app.
