2023 Board Election & Annual Meeting

At the next annual meeting, there will be three positions open for our volunteer board of directors. Each is a three-year term position. The voting will take place in person by paper ballot only at the annual meeting.
1) No nominations will be taken from the floor of the annual meeting
2) No absentee ballots will be accepted
The following board candidates are listed below with their qualifications:
LARRY RIDENOUR
Davenport, Iowa resident Larry Ridenour was initially elected to the credit union board of directors in 1991 and again in 1993 serving to present date. Larry joined Alcoa Davenport Works in 1966 retiring after 30 years as a CAD CAM Programmer. Larry is the past Chairperson of Alcoa DavPak and the 25 year club. Larry received an associate's degree in numerical control programming, computer aided drafting and CAD CAM Programming. Larry has served as Chairperson of the board of directors, Vice Chairperson, Chairperson of the Credit and Audit Committees, ALCO Committee, and has served as the Chief Financial Officer.
Larry currently serves as the Chairperson of the Board, Executive Committee Chairperson, Personnel Chairperson, Community Development Financial Institution Committee Chairperson, Cyber Security Committee Chairperson, Ascentra Credit Union Foundation Chairperson and ALCO Committee Chairperson. He has additionally served on the Building, Nominating, Strategic Planning, Disaster Recovery, Board and Director Policy Updates and Marketing Committees. He was the recipient of the 2014 Iowa Credit Union Cooperative Spirit Award for exemplifying the spirit of the credit union industry and the communities they serve.
During Larry's tenure on the credit union board of directors he has completed the financial achievement program and CUNA’s Professional Development Program. This experience has given him significant insight into the operation of the credit union. Larry was instrumental in forming the Ascentra Credit Union Foundation to focus on large-impact community funding. The foundation has made a positive impact on the lives of many.
MARY SOEDER
Mary is a Bettendorf, Iowa resident and worked at Alcoa for 34 years in Supply Chain Management as a Secretary, Coordinator, Order Editor, Plate Planner and Customer Service Delivery Specialist. She retired in 2002 and is a current member of the Alcoa 25 year club. A graduate from Assumption High School and the American Institute of Commerce (AIC) in business, Mary has also completed Excel, Access and Word computer classes at Scott Community College. Mary currently serves as Treasurer of the board, Executive Committee Treasurer, Ascentra Credit Union Foundation Treasurer, Credit Committee Secretary, and serves on the Personnel Committee. She has also served on the following board committees: Audit, Building, Nominating, Strategic Planning Session, and Disaster Recovery and IT Technology. Mary is also a member of the Mississippi Valley Quilting Guild.
THOMAS GIBBS
Thomas was born in Davenport but grew up in Coralville. He graduated from Iowa City West High School and joined the United States Air Force. He served as a Military Working Dog Handler/Security Forces and ended his career doing Bomb Dog Support for Air Force One Mission and Support Complex.
He left the Air Force and worked briefly in private security at the Library of Congress before joining the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington D.C. Thomas returned to the Quad Cities in 2004 where he began his career with the Scott County Sheriff’s Office. He continues to serve Scott County and the Sheriff’s Office as a Lieutenant in charge of Dayshift Patrol Operations.
Thomas joined Ascentra Credit Union Board of Directors as an Associate Board Member in 2020. He was appointed to fill a vacancy in the Board of Directors in 2020. Thomas has served on the Credit and Audit Committees and is currently the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Thomas is married to his wife Heather Gibbs, and they live in Bettendorf. They have two daughters who attend Pleasant Valley School District.
